Since April 2016, Alternating Current Art Space has presented hundreds of exhibitions across our four gallery spaces and The Cupboard project space. Each three-week exhibition brings new voices, new mediums, and new conversations to 248 High Street. Below is a selection of exhibitions from our archive, spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, video, sound art, performance, and beyond. Opening nights have always been a highlight of our program, held every Friday from 6 to 8 pm, drawing artists, collectors, and members of the wider Melbourne arts community into our Windsor galleries.

Exhibition Archive

Over its years of operation, Alternating Current Art Space presented more than 180 exhibitions across every conceivable medium of contemporary art. From the opening season in 2016 through to the final shows in 2022, the gallery welcomed hundreds of artists through its doors. Solo exhibitions, curated group shows, collaborative projects, and site-specific installations all found a home within the four galleries and The Cupboard. Artists ranged from recent graduates presenting their first solo shows to established practitioners exploring new directions in their work.

Notable exhibition highlights include the Summer Salon group shows, international residency collaborations with Blender Projekt Space and Yarra Sculpture Gallery, the Scavengers group exhibition curated by Andrea Hughes, Olga Tsara, and Polly Hollyoak, and the annual open calls that introduced dozens of new voices to the Melbourne gallery scene. The gallery's commitment to accessibility and experimentation made it a launching pad for many artists who went on to show at major institutions across Australia and abroad.
